Enjoin the Good and Forbid Evil, O Salafee! - Abu Khadeejah

    Sheikh Abu Khadeejah (
saddadhu Allah ), " Alhamdu li Illahi Rabbi 'alamin wa slatu wa salam'ala ashrafi al mursalin, wa'ala alihi wa sabihi ajma'in.
    Ama baadu.
You remember my brothers and sisters, barka Allah fekom.
The narration of Abd Allah bin Masaud (radi Allah `anhu) and which he stated, that would not come a time except that the time comes after is more evil than that which came before it and he mentioned in varieties narrations, in one of those narrations he mentions, "I do not intend by that a year after a year or a year better than a year or a time of its prosperity
And he mentioned, "and I do not intend by that a ruler over a ruler.
"He said, but rather what is intend here
is that the knowledge which you have today is less than that which you had yesterday. this is by a way of the death of the
scholars; the death of the ulama, the death of the fuqha
And then he mentioned when the ulama they pass away then the people will all become of one level, and they will not enjoin the good and the will not forbid the evil, and when that occurs indeed they will be
    destroyed .

So this affair of enjoying the good and forbidding the evil is something my brothers and sisters which is from the greatest of affairs of our religion. The great scholar of this era , sheikh Saleh bin Fuzan bin Abd Allah al Fuzan ( may Allah Talla Protect him) he mentions," that no doubt enjoying the good and forbidding has a great station in the religion, to the extent, some of the ulmaa have counted it as a pillar of al Islam ;they have counted it as rokin men arkan al Islam", and then he mentioned the cause one of hadith Jibreel ('alayhisalam ), that when the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayhwasalam) was ask by Jibreel regarding Islam, that the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayhwasalam) he mentioned in one of those narrations, "wa an tamr bil Ma'ruf wa tnahy anal Munkar; that you also you enjoin the good and you forbid the evil" , So when Jibreel ('alayhi salam ) in the hadith when he came to the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayh wa salam) in the form of a man, and he asked him concerning Islam in one of those narrations about Islam, the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayh wa salam) mentioned ,"and that you enjoin the good, and that you forbid the evil", and sheikh al Fuzan he mentions,"wa kan al Sahaba yobayona al nbi(salla Allah alayhwasalam) 'ala al amr bil Ma'ruf wa alnahy anal Munkar.
[they are pledging allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayh wa salam) upon enjoining the good and forbidding the evil]
That the Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them)that they give the bai3a to the Messenger of Allah on (salla Allah alayh wa salam)upon the fact they will be commanded
    to enjoin the good, and to forbid the evil, and then he mentions, "this is because mankind even if they are Muslims, and even if they are believers that will fall into error, and mankind is weak ,and he is dared to[... ] the desires, and the fittn that lead to evil, and this requires there for someone to come enjoin the good, and to forbid the evil, and because the calls to the doubts, and desires that they are great, and the call to the doubts, and the desires is great in mighty call;
people who call to bid'ah [Invention]
people who call to shirk [Shirk is to worship of anyone or anything other than Allah or with Allah( Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala].
    people who call to sins
    people who call to al
    nifaq [Hypocrisy]
people who call to lying, and kadhib[....] against the believers, they are many in number.
So, Allah( Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) has raise for this Ummah individuals who will enjoin the good and forbid the evil, so
Allah tests and tries them from that which is presented to them from the desires and the [doubts] and the calls to evil.

    So which is
incumbent to establish to call to good and to forbid from the evil for the correction of these harms. So this is from "the mighty affair of the religion", take for example, al-Shaikh al-Fawzan mentions, and he mentions, "in a reality of hadith that has been collected by al- imam al- Bukhri (may Allah have a mercy upon him) the hadith of An-Numan bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him), al-Shaikh al-Fawzan mentions it in general form, ,he mentions, "take the example of a group of people who upon a ship, and one group he is upon upper level, and the other group he is on the lower level of that ship, the lower group all he needs to come to upper level, so they may able to take the barrel of water, and take from the water, and drink the water, and use it for
themselves, so some of the people who are upon the lower level they said to each other, "let us drill a hole in the ground; a hole in our lower level, into the water that's below us, and take the water of that it's from there, and let us not bother those who are in upper level, because every time when we go up, we seem to harm them, and we seem to bother them, so let us not bother them, let us just drill a hole in the ship that we are upon, in the bottom, we just take the water from there" ,so then Shaikh al-Fawzan mentions, "so if the people on the upper level left alone whose in the down below, then all of them will be sunk, and will be drowned, so if they take the water in that manner, and all of them are drowned, and the ship is scuttle, and if preventing from drilling, then all of them are saved", so Shaikh al-Fawzan he mentions, "and likewise in the limits, and prescribe limits of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala)so the ship in this hadith is the Shari'a of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala), that's because there is no successful mankind except through the Shari'a and boarding that ship, just like the narration of the great Imam Malik ibn Anas when he said," al Sunnah ka Safinat Noah; that the Sunnah is like the ark of Noah. Whomsoever boards it then he saved, and whomsoever refuses then he is drowned".06:59

As is the reality of that which took place in the time of Noah, those who embarked on the ark of Noah then will be saved, and those who will refuse they will be drowned, the Sunnah is likewise.

So here the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayh wa salam) he is striking the same example, that the Shari'a of al-Islam is that ship, whomsoever is upon that ship then he is saved. But they are individuals who are upon that ship that they cause damage to that ship.

So then, Shaikh al-Fawzan he mentions," that the ship is the Shari'a, and everyone who embarks upon that ship then he embarks upon the Shari'a, and the ones who drilled in the bottom of that ship, then they are the sinners, and they are the mukhlifon, they are the opposers of the Sunnah of Allah's messenger(salla Allah alayh wa salam) ,so they are on the lower level and the lower deck, and those who are preventing them, then they are ahlu-alam, ahlu-aqel, and ahlu - Imaan, they are the people of knowledge, the people of intellect, and those who persist Imaan, Where are they? They are on the upper level, they are on a darjah higher than those who are upon the lower deck, and you can see the difference between the two, because the one who is on the lower deck, What do they want to do? Some of them sinners, some of them just juohal, some of them having no aqel, some of them do not know the value of the ship that they are upon, if they damage this ship, then the ship will sink so, What did they do? That they say," listen we need water, we do not want to go upstairs to those people because, those people upstairs they are uqlaa, they are ulama they are those people who have alam and Imaan", they do not want to bother them, What did they are want to do? They want now get the water themselves, How do we do it? If you are upon a ship you start drilling in the bottom deck, What happens to the ship ya ikhwan!?. Water comes in, Now what are they going to do? Put a thumb in it, What are they going to do to prevent that water? and then, Who sinks? The ship start sinking, and everyone he is drowned, and no one is free, and no one is protected from the harm, the ulama they die, the Shari'a becomes corrupted, the Deen becomes corrupted .

So, Shaikh al-Fawzan he mentions, "so, those who are preventing them are the people of Imaan , and the people of aqel, and the people of knowledge, and if enjoining the good and forbidding the evil was abandoned ,then the Shari'a would drown itself, the religion of al-Islam would despair just like the religion of the Jewish and the Christians , the Jewish are no longer upon the Deen of Moses (alih al-slam )or the Deen of al-Anbiaa they are who send to bani Israel, the Christians no longer upon the Deen of Isa ibn Mariam,Why? Because someone drilled holes in the bottom of that ship and the religion was lost.10:01

So much so that's no comparison between the Deen of Isa and the Deen of the Christians of today except maybe same here and same there, but the aqeedah [the Creed], and the foundation and the usul of the Deen of Isa it's not carried by the Christians today, that's why the prophet(salla Allah alayhwa salam) mentions, " that there isn't a Jew or Christian that hears of me and then doesn't believe in me except that he'll take his place in the hellfire" "not a Jew or a Christian" ya ikhwan, Shaikh al-Fawzan then continues to say , "and if the leaders enjoin the good and they forbid the evil, and the ahlu-alam , and scholars, and those who've sound reasoning and intellect, that they took the foolish ones by their hands, then everyone is saved from destruction, and punishment, and if these people the foolish ones, the buffoons, the idiots, those who don't have any aqel, waahlu-bidah, and the people of sin, and the people of desires, if they'll be left to their affair, then the Shari'a is destroyed by their sins and by their obsession, then everyone is drowned.

So this is the great prophetic example set by the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayh wa salam)for those who are responsible for the affairs of Muslims.

      قال تعالى: ( يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ)

"O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you"
those in authority over you and then, none other than the umraa, and the ulama they are the rulers, and they are the scholars, so if the rulers and the scholars that they aren't respected, or they become corrupted or that they die, or the righteous they are pass away, Then what remains of this ship ya Ikhwan? Imagine if you have nutcases on the bottom deck, because everyone on the upper deck has died, or they are ignored, or they are abandoned, then what will they do on the bottom deck these fusaaq [disobedient] What will they do ya Ikhwan!? What will weak ones do? What will the sinners ones, who are upon the bottom deck do? They want khibaa [a failure] they don't know it because they don't have any knowledge, What will they do? Except that will destroy that ship. The Sunnah is like the ark of Noah ya Ikhwan, whomsoever embarks upon it, then he's saved, whomsoever refuses then he's drowned, so if we are going to embark upon the ship in one sense the Shari'a as a hull, in another sense is the Sunna, if we are going to embark on this ship, then we've to be individuals who are willing to take from those who know better, to take from the uqlaa, those who've intellect the ulama, those who've knowledge the fuqha, those who've understanding, the people of Imaan.13:15

Those people who understand Imaan, and they implement that Imaan with knowledge that Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) Has given them. then Shaikh al-Fawzan he mentions, "that there are many ayat [verses] in the Quran Encouraging this matter, Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) Has mentions,

        " وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى الْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ"

That Allah(Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala)mentions, "Let there arise from amongst you group from this Ummah who call to all that's good, and they enjoin the good and they forbid evil ,indeed they are the ones who are successful"[Al- Im'ran verse:104]

Shaikh al-Fawzan mentions, " that here the amar, amar minAllah; that this command of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala)because the "lam" her in "wal'takun" the lam in wal'takun[1], this lam here is the lam as he mentions, "li al-amar", it's the lam in the Arabic language of command, a'ee; Umma'tun" or as he mentions li al-amar to the Ummah , a command to the Ummah, a'ee; jmaa'tun wayamurun bial-maeruf wayanhawn ean al-munkar, that the jmaah; that is the body of Muslim who stand they enjoin the good and they forbid evil, and when they stand, and they enjoin the good and they forbid evil, this jmaah as he mentions Shaikh al-Fawzan , " faidza kaama bil-amar bil-maruf wa al-nahi an al-munkar jmaa'tun min ahl-alam wa al-basirah
that this jmaah, or this body that stands up, and he enjoins the good and he forbids evil, it's a jmaah, it's a body from the people of knowledge, and the people of basirah, people of insights with regard to the Kitab and the Sunnah, and then, he mentions, "and if they" meaning; those scholars they stand up and do that, and they stand up then they are fulfilled; this fard kifayah, this communal obligation that if they were to do that, then will fulfill the communal obligation meaning; if the scholars do that, then everybody else then they covered by their obligation, however, if they are abandoned that meaning; no one does it, Why don't they do it? Because the scholars have died and they've passed away, and they are no longer present, then if it's abandoned, then everyone is sinful, and everyone is destroyed, wa kuluhu, "ya'daunaela al-khier" the statement of Allah and they call to that which is good meaning; that they call to Islam, and they call to the Shariah, and they call to Imaan , and then He said Allah(Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala), "Wa ya'morona be al-ma’rofwaya'nhawna ani al-munkar", he mentions, "that this is a command by Allah(Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala), this is a command by Allah al-amar bie al-maruf wa al-nahi an al-munkar; hua min al-daawta ela Allah they enjoining the good and they forbidding the evil; it is a call from Allah, it is from the call from Allah, and Allah has singled out here by way of emphasizing the matter, due to status in Islam, Why? Because Allah mention, "ya'daunaela al-khier" that they call to that which is good, meaning; that they call to Islam, call to tawhed, and this enters to al-daawta ela Allah, enters to calling to Allah.17:10

And the intent of Ma'rof, wa al-murad bil-Ma'rof: kull maa amar Allah(Ta'ala) bhimnal-ta'aat , that this is that the intent here: everything Allah have called to from the obligatory matters, and at the head of those obligatory matters, is the greatest of all obligation, which's the obligation of Tawheed. Wa al-Munkar is everything that Allah has forbidden. And greatest of enjoining of good is Tawheed, and all of the matters of obedience besides that. So the greatest is: Tawheed and all of the t'aat, all of the obligations their after, just like when Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him)went to Yemen, and the prophet (salla Allah alayh wa salam) said to him, "let the first thing that you call them to....", Call them to is what? Tawheed, " if they accept that from you, then inform them that Allah obligated up them the five daily prays...", What first? Tawheed, if that is established, then all of the other ta'aat from the Salah, from the Zakah, from the Sawm, from the Hajj, from the Jihad, from all of that other affairs, that then they coming to the obligation that Allah has obligated upon mankind ,and then he mentions, " the greatest matter or the greatest affair of Munkar then it is: Shirk with Allah, then all of the matters of disobedience that come after that, so, What's the greatest Munkar?Associating partners with Allah in worship, and the after every single affair of disobedience, What's the proof for this? The statement of Allah (subhaana wa ta’aala)when Allah (subhaana wa ta’aala) has mentioned,
          قال تعالى: ((إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَن يَشَاء))
          "Enna Allah laayaghfiru ann yushrakabhiwayaghfirumaadonadhalikaleminyashaa."
"that Allah doesn't forgive (the greatest of all evils) Shirk, but He may forgive lesser than that to whomever He pleases."
So the greatest Munkar: Shirk, and then the after all of the acts of disobedience the after, after Shirk and Kufr are the affairs that take here aside of Islam meaning; greater Shirk and greater Kufr, Then what? Bid'ah(Innovations), Then what? The acts the major Sins, Then what? The lesser Sins, right! and some of the scholars they may give more tafsiel to that; major Shirk and major Kufr, lesser Shirk, and then the after the rest of the sins: from Bid'ah, from the major sins, from the [minus sins] and so on.
So enjoining the good and forbidding the evil at the head of them are the scholars the head of those who call to that , and the head of that who establish that the Ulmaa of ahlul-Sunnah wal-Jmaah , and the ones who do that Shaikh al-Fawzan has mentioned, "that they are : "wa'uwlikahuml-Muflihun" then they're the ones who are successful, so the Flaa'h or success is in the hands of those who: enjoin the good and forbid the evil, and then the after Allah (subhaana wa ta’aala)He mentions,
          "كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ "
"You are the best of the nations, that has been raised up for mankind"
          Why?
          "تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ"
"Because of this reason:" you enjoin the good"
          وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ""
          "and you forbid the evil"
          "وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ"
"and then you believe in Allah". 20:45
